About This Role
We're looking for experienced, safety-focused swim instructors who love helping people feel safe and confident in the water. You'll teach private lessons in clients' pools across Greater Vancouver, plus group and private lessons at our Burnaby pool. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
The Role
- Independent Contractor, Swim Instructor
- Pay (in-home): $35 to $50 per teaching hour (experience + area), plus extra-student and travel pay
- Pay (Burnaby): same teaching rate, no travel fee (fixed location)
- Locations: Clients’ residential and condo pools across Greater Vancouver, and our Burnaby pool at 9304 Salish Court
- Students: Kids, teens, and adults
- Schedule: Seasonal or year-round depending on your availability and demand
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of formal swim teaching or coaching
- Confident leading lessons independently with kids, teens, and adults
- Exceptionally organized and reliable, manages own schedule and keeps availability up to date
- Excellent communicator, clear, professional, and very responsive (replies to admin within 24 hours)
- Current certifications (Swim Instructor Award, First Aid & CPR, instructor liability insurance or willing to obtain)
- Reliable transportation for in-home work; public transit is fine for Burnaby
- Some after-school / evening / weekend availability
- Bring your own teaching equipment (fins, kickboards, etc.)
What You’ll Do
- Teach safe, structured 1:1 and small-group lessons in clients’ pools or at our Burnaby pool
- Arrive 5 minutes early, professionally dressed (full swimsuit plus rashguard and/or wetsuit, no bikinis)
- Follow a simple flow: safety check → warm-up → skills → recap
- Respect clients’ homes, pool rules, and privacy (Burnaby has its own etiquette, we’ll brief you at onboarding)
- After each lesson, send a brief progress note to admin (e.g. “Lesson complete, Sophie, improved back float, continue weekly.”)
- Communicate clearly and promptly if there are any issues with scheduling, access, or safety
How It Works
- Apply with your details and certifications.
- If it’s a fit, we onboard you (Instructor Agreement, SOP review, system setup).
- Tell us which locations you’d like to teach: in-home, Burnaby, or both.
- You keep your weekly availability up to date.
- We send student opportunities → you confirm → teach → send notes.
